best wood for rocker for rocking airplane

i’m building a rocking airplane and was wondering if poplar is a good wood for the rockers? have some laying around-

Poplar is a hard wood but on the soft side, Oak or Maple would be a better choice for long life! Might only get 50 to 60 years with poplar, 100 + with Oak.

thanks—and one more question- the airplane is 37 inches long- how long should the rockers be?—this is my first time building anything like this!
