There’s a bunch of older posts on jointers. I am getting close to dropping the dime on one. I want to keep the budget $1000 bucks or less.
The units I am considering are:
Jet 6 inch
Powermatic 6 inch
Grizzly 8 inch.

I have watched the craigslist in my area Wi. and there has nothing worthwille that has come up in 5-6 months.
I own a Grizzly 3 hp cabinet saw and I am fairly happy with it but if I were to do it again I would pass on to another.
The Grizzly did get an excellent review on fine woodworking.
The Jet quality seems to have diminished with table trueness being one of the biggest complaints.
Interested to hear from owners your opinion. Thanks

My advice: prioritize a unit with a helical carbide-insert cutterhead over everything else.

I vote with William on a jointer with a spiral carbide cutter head. I went from straight knives to the spiral carbide, and it was a terrific decision.
