Topic tags/keywords: question I have a friend who is very in to long boards and I’d like to make him one before he takes off for the air force, but I don’t know if there’s anything special I need to know about it, if anyone has built one or could point me to a blog about it, it would be much appreciated. I used the search function but nothing conclusive came up. The plan is to make it similar to a cutting board with two or more different woods glued up. -- Greg P, Washington State, http://heirloomfurniture.weebly.com/ |

Seems pretty straight forward to me. I Have never made one but I would venture to guess that the wood, would be the most critical part. Something somewhat flexible or resilient to stress. You may need to form it concave/convex to gain the flexibility. I don’t know really I am just throwing Crap out there. I looked up LongboardLarry online they make theirs out of Baltic Birch, if you call them they may give you some advice not sure how open they are. Good Luck. sorry no real help. |

I’m also interested – for my Grandson. Wonder how a plain old piece of Baltic Birch with some wheels attached would work? I’ve never seen one up close, but they don’t appear to have any curve. -- Joe |

I would cut it out of BB. Build a jig with a slight arch in it. Soak it in hot water for about 30 minutes.Slip it in the jig and let it dry. -- Life is good. |

Found about 51 videos on the following google search: how to make your own longboard EDIT: looks like a few are related to surfing, but still some decent ones about skating longboards -- Always keep a stash of band-aids in your workshop! |
