Topic tags/keywords: used tools craigs list old tools frugal

Just read this tip and thought, “doh, why didn’t I think of that?” I use an RSS reader for reading blogs, why not use it for looking for tools over time on Craigslist.

I can see how it would be really useful for being the early bird and grabbing the worm.

It really is a simple thing. I set up 4 searches for things I am hoping to find …. now I sit back and wait…. it feels a lot like fishing LOL

I’ve been doing this as well, very helpful when watching for specific things. For instance, I had a search for ‘jointer’ and ‘planer’ set up on my RSS reader and found both this way.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one slapping my forehead for not thinking of it myself. I already had a couple hits on my search for a spokeshave. So far they aren’t exactly what I am looking for, but I am hopeful, and not in a hurry.

I’ve had various RSS feeds from Craigslist going for quite some time. Even if your not seriously looking for a tool, it’s a great way to figure out what the market & availability for used tools is. I don’t have room or the urgent need for a jointer yet, but I sure know what the market around Colorado springs is… 200-400 for a decent used 6” and they show up at least once a week…

This is a great way to land that next Craigslist gloat. I am afraid I might spend more money now. LOL
