Planer obsolete parts

Got a Sears Craftsman 12.5 '' planer. Need new blade holder. No longer available. Thought I was in luck when I see a Porter Cable model, lookalike, still for sale, online. The blade holder for that is not available too. Got to suck when a new tool does not have parts available.

I think I will find what I want and then search the parts available before I buy.

Whoops… sorry. Originally thought you were looking for knives :)

That machine does appear to be identical to the porter cable PC305TP, and a quick search for the locking bar part number (1342143) turns up these as replacements:

https://www.amazon.com/Porter-Cable-1342143-Planer-Knife/dp/B009YES2YY

No idea if they would work, but the parts diagrams between the two machines look pretty much identical.

Cheers,
Brad

Supposedly Sears is treading on thin ice as far as staying open. I decided to do a warranty call on all my worn out Craftsman hand tools while the gettings still good. A real shock to see how The once huge mall store has reduced to 1/2 its original floor space and how small the tool area has become. If I had any Craftsman power tools, I'd consider 'stocking up' on any model specific consumables and other parts.
