Im finishing a walnut and maple dining coat gf seal a cell , six coats arm r seal wife wants it to be satin, so my question , should I scuff with 4 0 steel wool and wax or coat with arm r seal satin and call it good.finishing is not my strong point so any help or comments are welcome.thanks in advance

You can use steel wool but I hate the stuff. 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper is my choice. You can be the judge as to the around of satin you like.

If you are happy with the smoothnes then do the steel wool and wax, I am not familiar with Arnor Seal , I use MinWax, with that the steel wool and wax will not take it to a Satin.
I would out a final coat of what ever use used in Satin, Gloss, Semi Gloss, Satin is all the same they just add a light disbursement into it, final coat is all that counts, you could use Satin all the awy and then final coat Gloss and it would be Gloss, and vice versa.

Thank you for the replies jumbojack and nightguy .I think I will wet sand with 400 then apply wax and buff.will post a pic in projects when done
