Topic tags/keywords: question

Hi guys , need some info on the Porter Cable 693 router.
Wondering if anyone has one and can give me the diameter of the plunge posts and the distance centre to centre between them..
I have an order for a Torque Workcentre as a surprise gift and I need the measurements to make the pins to attach the router to the machine..
Thanks in advance..
Lazy Larry

I can’t believe that.
I thought you must have every model of every make since Noah.

I am as well shocked that Jim doesn’t have one. I’ve seen the photos. It’s like a router museum/warehouse in his shop! I bet he has 3 of them and just doesn’t know it, or he can’t find them under all the other routers ;)

I have that one, from what I can tell. I’ve had it for about 5 years. The posts are .788” in diameter. I can’t measure the exact distance between on center, but the posts are exactly 4.460” apart inner side.

Troy – A trick for measuring centers is to measure like edges, like left edge of one to left edge of the other. This gives you a reference point, and, for example, a place to hook a tape measure.

Inner edge to inner edge plus the radius of each post will give the CP to CP. So, 4.460 + .788 = 5.248. And I to am shocked Jim doesn’t own one.

Leave it to those Yankee LJ’s to bail you out Mate.

(I wish someone would surprise me with one of your Torque Workcentres !!)

Come on Jim, you expect us to believe that you don’t have two or three of that model, probably in different colors???

I’m pretty sure 690 & 693 would be identical. The last number, if I recall correctly, just designates whether it was part of a multi-base kit. So if someone has a 690 in a plunge base, that is what Larry needs.

I can get it for you in a few hours when I’m back home, Larry…. if no one jumps in before then.

i’m comming up with 19 mm posts
and 147 mm centers .
i have the 693 router ,
and as charlie said it’s part of a set .
the plunge base says 6931 ,
the motor is 6902
the box says 693pk .
i don’t have a digital caliper ,

I’m coming up with 18.5 mm diameter on my digital caliper, and 150 mm o.c.

I hope between David’s measurements and mine this is close enough for Australian government work. :-)
