Is there enough local LJ's that would like to meet up trade swap chat hang out discussing techniques and what not in the southeastern PA, South Jersey, and Northern Delaware area? I'm thinking alternate between places each time or whatever works? Any takers? I live down southwest of Philly and go to Central Delaware and Jersey all the time. PM me if interested. Or if a club already exists let me know. When I look for clubs in my area the only clubs that show up are either no longer meeting or are like once twice a year.
McFly and Wireless PM me we could start something unofficial and see where it goes from there….... I was thinking something unofficial anyways boards presidents and all that stuff kind of makes things too bureaucratic for me. We can figure it out once we get a chance to meet up and see what the others are into as far as work style and what not. Thanks for the connect. Let me know
This sounds like a great idea to me, only wish I was closer. If we had the option of listing our location on a map we could see how many other Jocks are in our area. I've seen something similar on a few other forums.
Where in SE PA are you? There was a guild of sorts a few years back but it folded when the founder retired and moved away. At one point, there were about 100-150 members.
Sounds to me like we've got enough to get started so everyone that's truly interested pm me with your email and I'll coordinate a meet for a day that works for everyone. Also let me know what your interest area is in i.e: production, hobby, handtools, powertools, or turning that kind of thing. I'll see what I can come up with that will be good for all. Thanks for the replies too. Looking forward to a meet.
Anybody need cheap hardwood? I have carte blanche access to the shop scrap bin. Mostly red oak, but we also get walnut, maple and some exotics. Cherry is usually divided up among the senior guys, but I occasionally get some.
Lengths are usually under 3' but it's all premium stock. We start with FAS 5/4 milled to s2s, so it's often 1.0625" or thinner.
If you're local to DelCo, hit me up in this thread or PM
Wanna host? We never did get this thing off the ground. I can supply stupid amounts of stock for projects. I work in a woodshop where I can pretty much clear put the scrap bins on a daily basis.
My cup often runneth over, so I can drop off plenty of project wood whenever we all meet up.
You guys just have to let me know. I can figure out where. That's easy enough for me. Email me at oldhandtool@gmail.com directly so I can keep everything together and schedule something that works for everyone. Even if we start with 2 guys and end up with 5 it doesn't really matter. Not like there's a quota. And to the above poster yeah I'd say it's pretty funny out of a couple hundred thousand guys so few actually wanna meetup and talk woodworking and tools!
