Hey guys….
I have tripped over another Craigslist gold mine..or so I hope. Its a Rikon 14” band saw that this gentleman says he bought and never even finished putting it together. He didn’t post any pictures but is supposedly emailing me some first thing Monday morning. He looked on the machine and said the model number was “Bk 14 CS” or something. I have searched the internet and looked on the Rikon site and I cant find that Model number anywhere. He described it to me (I still cant believe he didn’t post any pictures…I felt pretty silly listening to him describe the saw!) and it sounds like a Rikon 10-320 1HP. According to his story he bought it for a steal when Woodworkers Warehouse went out of business. That was about 4 years ago…. Does anybody own this saw? Maybe he gave me the wrong number off the label? He says he has never even plugged it in or cut any wood on it…heck the cast iron table isn’t even on it and some parts are still in there factory wrap! The price he is selling it for is less than half of a brand new 10-320. Also, it doesn’t have a quick tension release lever….how do you take the tension off the blade without one…do you just loosen the tensioning wheel a few turns?...and doesnt that mess up your blade alignment?

Any info would be greatly appreciated..I really want to buy this saw..its a great deal, but I want to see it first. he is a bit of a long drive and I dont want to drive all the way out there to just look!

Sorry I can’t help Dave, I have never looked at the Rikon line but they certainly get good reviews. Hope it works out for you.

Sounds like a good buy. Is he selling it for what he paid 4 yrs ago and on sale.

He says it was retailing at the time for over 600…he didn’t pay that much for it…he is selling it for less than what he paid but I get the feeling I might get him to wiggle a little if I bring cash when I go look at it. I’m sure it is just as he said..unused…you can’t lie about something like would be pretty obvious..and he said he didnt even finish putting it together. I guess it was an impulse buy because he wanted to start wood working and it was a great deal. I should see some pics tomorrow morning…I told him to snap a bunch from different angles and the stuff that’s not on it also..

OK I guess I should chalk this one up to “you snooze you loose”, or Don’t trust anyone. It seems the guy never bothered to take any pictures for me, and when I called him he assured me they were going to be on the way. Well two hours later no pictures, and now he’s not answering his phone. Then I try him back an hour later after leaving a message and now he has blocked my number. I guess that means he sold it to somebody else. If he needed the money that quickly he should have said come over and look at it now or I’m selling it to the next guy who does…and I would have gone over. I guess peoples word means nothing these days…And to block my number from his phone…that’s so freeking spineless…he didn’t have the guts to just say sorry I sold it to somebody else

Something to think about on your next find. If it has never been used and is not fully assembled over multiple year span, expect to have missing parts even if the seller says “it’s all their”. Just something to think about. So, check to see if service parts are available for your model number before completing the sale.
