Topic tags/keywords: template routing dish carving question router I have a new dish carving bit (1/2” shank, 1” diameter, 5/8” cutting length and NO bearing). I have only ever done pattern routing using a bearing. I was under the impression that I would use this bit in conjunction with a bushing, but I cannot find a bushing with an inside diameter large enough to handle a 1” diameter bit. I’ve looked into trying to find a bearing with a 1/2” inside diameter and a 1” outside diameter to put on the bit and secure with a stop collar, but I can’t find one. Any suggestions/options? |

Why make a silk purse from a sows ear??? By the time you get the bushing, if you can, and some type of bearing set up, which may extend the bit too far out of the collet, just buy a straight pattern bit with either an upper or lower bearing, which ever works on your set up. -- Knowledge and experience equals Wisdom, Michael Frankowski |

Here is an Amazon link to a Whiteside 1.25” bearing and stop collar that I got . They have all sizes and they are good bearings. Works well for me. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012JI6YA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012JEZAE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 -- Mark -- Really we're not crazy, just "Limited Editions" -- http://www.jmh-limited-editions.com/home.html -- |

He was looking for a bearing for a bowl bit with rounded corners as I read his post. -- Mark -- Really we're not crazy, just "Limited Editions" -- http://www.jmh-limited-editions.com/home.html -- |

My bad, though he wanted to use that bit with a bearing addition for pattern making. -- Knowledge and experience equals Wisdom, Michael Frankowski |

Thanks! I can’t believe this is such an uncommon size. |
