I had ordered some things from Highland Hardware just before Christmas and received everything but one item that they were out of. The CSR or Customer Service Representative that I spoke to said it would be two weeks before they would get the order filled. I told her I was not pleased about that and of course she apologized up and down and assured me it was out of her control. Two weeks passed, no package. Another call, another apology, she assured me that it had been shipped, I warned her that I may cancel my order and send it all back for a refund, about $1.80.00 worth. Again alot of apologies, I hung up, frustrated. The doorbell rang. Yep, Fed-Ex. I opened the package and right on top is a brand new T-Shirt with Highland’s logo on the front. My wife had worked as a CSR for years and had come home feeling like crap from dealing all day with people like me. So with the taste of CROW still fresh in my mouth I called her back and with my best boyish charm I apologized about 20 times in the 3 minutes that we talked. Mea Culpa, Never again. Mike

aaahhh, Mike…it appears you have slipped into the realm of humanity. Shame on you!. Now you need to go find that halo, polish it, those wings, dust them off, and back to being unhuman again. BTW, you have a black feather sticking in your beard…

Highland Woodworking is a 5 hour drive North of Gainesville. I’ve attended three classes there and we often “stop in” when going to and fro Florida to the Upper Peninsula. I now rely on them more than on Woodcraft or Rockler.

If you ever travel to or thru Atlanta, they are located in an area where there are a lot of restaurants and botiques, so your wife would enjoy the stop as well.

I’d love a trip to Highland WW. I’m about 6 hours away in S.E. Georgia.

Jockmike, I know about eating the proverbial crow. After badmouthing the s—t out of Delta, I was contacted by their VP of Marketing and he definitely made things right. I found out about customer service reps the hard way. All in all it was not Delta’s fault. It was just this particular CS rep. telling me that the part was discontinued and all I could do is throw away my lathe and buy a new one. Once I spoke to the VP, he made everything right. Talk about Mea Culpa’s… I said a bunch.

ah oh Mike, I saw that crow fly right over while I was out with the dog a few minutes ago. I thought I was going to have to dodge those darn drippings while wheeling aroung in the wheel chair. No I know where it was heading….....................LOL

Lessons learned. Have a little patience. CSR’s are human too by the way.

I had major dramas with one company and I am still wary of mail order or courier pick up.. If I really need something from then I drive the one hour and pick it up in person.. other wise I am sourcing elsewhere… and yes it was only one CSR but not my problem….

mike your a good man…and you did the right thing…that is what counts…we all do things like that..and have to back up and make it right,,,and you did that…life is about live and learn…doing something once is allowed and forgivable , but twice its on us..but you know what im saying…you’ve lived long enough and gone through enough to see …were all human..and as long as we stick together well make it …heaven is a place for folks who repent from life’s blunders…and we’ve all made them…i know your going through some tough times…and it grinds on you..i know cus i get grumpy too when Ive had more on my plate then i could handle..bravo to you amigo…you did the right thing in the end…that’s what counts…...i hope your doing well today…i think of you often and hope your pain has subsided…my regards..grizzaman

Thanks Bob, Larry, Frank and Jerry and the rest, Oh yes, been there done that, I can feel for the person on the other end. But then like Larry said I ran into the other type before too, that you wanted to reach thru the phone and choke them because they’re a brain dead slug.

One of the few things I find enjoyable living in Atlanta is being about 20 minutes from Highland Hardware. Their catalog doesn’t do the store justice. There are so many nooks and crannys to explore in that store and the people working there have always been more than helpful. Their shirts and hats are cool too.

Mike, I used to manage customer service reps and the fact that you picked up the phone to thank and apologize speaks well about your character. Most people would just take the package and move on. Admittedly, I always had a few who I also wanted to choke… and those usually ended up having a very short stay under my management :)

Yea Jim it tastes like crap but like I said knowing how my wife used to feel coming home from work softend my heart in a hurrry.
