Always liked Map Drawer coffee tables. 40” x 36” is just a guess right now, but probably pretty close. Just curious as to thoughts on proportions, etc. Not sure if they will be fake drawer fronts with one big drawer on each side or one short and one big.

Thoughts? Thank you.

When I posed a similar question about the dimensions for a bookcase that I was going to build, I was introduced to the “Golden Rectangle”.

Hopefully, the calculator that is in the link below will help you with your dimensions:

That’s a great idea! I teach navigation, so I love charts. Anyway, MisterBill has a good point about vertical sizing, especially if the drawers are faux. If not, they could be one large drawer that looks like three for storing remotes, blankets, etc. I like the height of my coffee tables to be within striking distance of the height of the couch so I can kick my feet up. For length and width, all charts are different, so you’re pretty much free to go with whatever works for you, with the understanding that they’re never square. Have you thought about using a real chart of your local water and embedding it with epoxy? Might be kinda cool. Or carve/engrave the top to look like a chart. They’re doing wonderful things with CNC nowadays. Hope this helped. Good luck!
