Hi Jocks,
I’m heading to an auction tomorrow and hope to get some info from the masses here. Mostly looking for opinions on quality and “I’d buy it for $xxx or less” type thing. The two things I need to improve are dust extraction and well I don’t have a bandsaw. I’d like to be able to resaw and cut gentle curves in 5/4 hardwoods.

The items are all in near new condition, there was a preview today.

Bridgewood PBS 540 bandsaw. Motor was Italian and I couldn’t find any indication of hp but it was 240v. This I had trouble “googling”. But it appears to be a 22” or something to that effect. It’s pretty massive! I don’t have a real good idea for a value or quality.

Air tech 2000
looks like used on cl are in the 100-150 range, does that sound right? Pros/ cons?

Jet 2hp dust collector.
Again, 100-150. I’ll be exhausting outside with a cyclone or thein type deal from the basic tools. Yea or nea on this being a good machine. My assumption is a 2hp blower is just that and since I don’t plans to use the bags it’s all the same? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Jet 13” 2 in 1 planer moulder.
Again not much to find on this machine, but I’m currently using a half busted delta lunchbox. Anyone have thoughts on this guy?

Thanks in advance!

There are many forum topics for the Bridgewood 540 (several different forums). Here’s one example. One respondent indicated it’s similar to a Felder, which would be very good news methinks. Might have European guides and magnetic switch, more info on forums. It’s 22” saw from the looks.

I have a Jet 1-1/2 HP dust collector, canister type with pleated filter on top and clear bag on the bottom. Am very happy with it. A 2 HP DC for $150 would be a good bargain, DC is expensive.

The AirTech at $150-$175 should be a good thing. All of these prices depend on how hard it is to get these things used in your market area.

Hopefully, you can check out things like the tires on the bandsaw, the on/off on the power tools, look for obvious defects. Keep the buyer’s premium in mind! Good luck! I love auctions myself, made a living off of them for almost 10 years.

Thanks forestgirl, really appreciate the info. Buyers permium of 10% so it’s at least easy math.
I did read that thread on the 540 but no mention of what anyone thought it was worth. I’ll dig around some more as well.

Have your say...
