I was recently given quite a bit of hickory flooring at no charge. I was thinking about making some cutting boards out it but I wanted to know if flooring is generally treated with anything? The flooring i was given is unfinished. I just want to make sure it is safe to use for cutting boards.
Thanks in advance.

Unfinished is not treated with anything. Flooring material is kiln dried, so no use of insecticides. It will be fine for whatever use you intend.

I have used the leftover ash and Brazilian cherry from my floors to build a dozen or so edge grain bread and cheese boards. Great way to use up the scraps.
