what to use on a barbecue cart

I have built a barbecue cart to sit outside on my patio. I used aromatic cedar which looks great. I am not sure how to finish it as it will remain outdoors year round. I was thinking of deck stain or using Epifanes varnish. I know the boat guys swear by Epifanes varnish. I just don’t know how it will hold up. I would like to preserve the look of the cedar. Suggestions needed.
