Hello all,

I recently ordered some EZ Lap diamond stones to sharpen my chisels and irons. I just opened them up and started using them and found that the Super Fine stone has a defect in the center of the stone that is causing scratches my chisels. You can see the bright spot in the stone and the effect it has on the chisel (the horizontal lines).

When you run your finger over the stone, you can definitely feel the raised bit, as seen in the picture. Is there an easy fix for this, or does the stone need to be replaced? I was looking forward to a long weekend of woodworking, so I’d hate to have to wait for a new one in the mail (though I suppose I could work around it for now…).

Can you pop it off w/ something like a putty knife?

I’d call the seller and ask them. Trying to remove it may result in more damage and then the seller may not take it back.
