Topic tags/keywords: question

& I am curious if others are going back to Windows 8.1???

There are quirks in W8.1 that were not fixed/addressed.
I didn’t find Windows 10 to be an upgrade, but rather just different.

The search function did not work correctly….
I could not ask a question, by typing.
That and at first, the Cortana voice recognition didn’t work either.
Then one day, it decided to listen to me….
That is when I asked….
“How do I uninstall Windows 10”!!!

Soooo, are you happy with W10…..
Or will you be reverting back to W8.1???

Windows 7 is probably as good as XP was. I hated 8/8.1. The Charms bar, the tiles instead of lists and an interface designed around touch screens.

To me, W10 is more friendly, easier to navigate. I really like the new “Edge” browser- although I’ll probably stick with Chrome. I use Cortana on my Windows phone and agree “she” is less than perfect but then finding a woman that actually listens to what you say, well…....

If you did an upgrade from W7/W8/8.1, there is a “goback” feature. Check “” for instructions.

Thanks for the feedback regarding Win10. I guess I’ll stick to Linux Mint 17, which works great every day.

I have to use a Big Mac at work.
Hate it, except for the 27” screen and sound.
Have three PCs. A Windows 7 a Windows XP and a Win 8.1.
Wish all I ever had to see was Windows 7.
Out of the four machines Windows 8.1 is the worst piece of crap I have seen since DOS 2.1
I may give Windows 10 a try since I’ve been told it’s most like XP or 7 of the latest bunch.

I cut my teeth on that Woz ediition ][GS… still have it out in the shed.

That being said I went from 7 to 10 the other night. Lockups, Start button does nothing, taskbar works or not depending on the mood of the moment. I work in IT, thought I would give it a shot. After about eight hours I am back to 7 and will probably stay here until 10 matures a bit.

When passing the “Gates of Hell,” to get to an O.S., always remember, every version of Microsoft’s O.S.’s were beta versions for at least six months from their public issue date. Some still are.

I’m not sure about version 10, since I see that Harbor Freight lovers seem to approve of it.

I’m very interested in the upgrade, but always wait for a goodly period before upgrading Win OSs. I think, however, that the free upgrade is good for a finite period of time. I’ll be upgrading from Win7 Pro 64-bit. Hubby will be upgrading an 8.1 tabletPC hybrid thingie. Not sure if our second-hand Win7 Premium PC is eligible for the free upgrade, have to check.

I would like to upgrade 8.1, in about six months, but will be mindful of what this article talks about. In summary, MS is giving it away for reason – you data, down to keystrokes and everything in some instances:

The only reason I left XP was the new hrdwr wouldn’t run it when the system died, I wanted nothing to do with vista or 8. so I chose the lesser of 2 weevils, 7 is OK in my book, although most of the XP software doesn’t work with 7 64bit. 7 is as close to XP as I can get it, it is a bloated OS compared to XP but I’m guessing the later versions are as bad or worse.

I’ve also read a number of things on 10, if I understand correctly it allows pretty much all info on your system to be transmitted to MS. But we all know how upright MS is. I also read there are some work arounds for this.

I’ll hang with 7 till the hrdwr is no longer available

Windows 10 is great….I ran 7 on my PC for years….But…after I switched over to 10, I had my Tech Support people to clean, install, and check for some needed updates, if any….Also had about 10-12 drivers fixed…It took about 5 hours to do this, but now everything is up to date, all installs are done, and the PC runs faster than ever….For some reason, Windows quit installing updates a while back, so it really slowed down and got to acting up….The mouse arrow would jump around, I couldn’t type anything (like posting on LJs), and was just in poor condition..I figured I’d wind up buying a new ‘puter…But, after reading Bert’s thread on “Windows 10 rocks”, I decided to give it a try…Couldn’t make it any worse…So…after the afore mentioned above, it works really fast and good….Just needed to get the minor bugs worked out, and now I’m back in business…..If you’re up to date on all downloads, updates, etc., Windows 10 just might work for you…..
