Canister Dust Collector and Green (wet) shavings

I have a Jet Bulldog DC, canister on top and bag below. When I use the lathe with green wood, I don’t generally turn on the DC, but I do use it when band-sawing. Though that seems somewhat futile, I am wondering—for the shavings that do get into the DC, does their wet nature cause any problems in the long run. Opinions?
