I'd be cautious about using denatured alcohol to cleaned a lacquered surface. Lacquer thinner often contains methanol, a primary constituent in denatured alcohol. The denatured alcohol may soften the lacquer, or change its sheen, even if it doesn't remove the finish entirely. Bottom line? I'd opt for mineral spirits or naphtha as a cleaner, rather than denatured alcohol. They're much safer.

What are you trying to remove? I'd go with what will tackle that and nothing more aggressive just to be sure you're not over shooting to the point of removing the lacquer.
