i am cleaning my shop and pitching stuff that i haven't used in years. as i am working, i realized my rigid shop vac is a piece of poop. it clogs its own filter quickly. it clogs all the time. perhaps the worst part is the fact that it is worse than then any grocery cart i have ever had as it wobbles along on 4 wheels that refuse to all roll at the same time.

what tool do you have that is a dog, but won't replace because it hasn't died yet?

Fein multi master. Beautiful tool. So many attachments. Wonderful infomercial. And it sits in its orange box. Never use it. Second is my dowel jig bit it isn't powered except by its utter uselessness as I don't use dowels. Never use it. Sits in a St. Louis Rey cigar box with all its bushings. I would include the Tormek but I sold it. What a MESSY wet tool.

If you would add a Dust Deputy upstream of the vac, most of your troubles would wind up in the bucket and not the vac. It won't fix the casters though.

Portable Craftsman Router table. Tossed it in the trash as it wasn't worth the space it took up on the shelf.

FYI…old crappy vacuums make great trash cans. Remove the lid save any accessories that might be useful for the next vacuum you get and toss everything but the bottom container…. instant trash can. I have one in my shop that works much better as a trash can than it ever did as a vacuum.

Vac canisters also can become rolling flower pots. Especially if you wish to put flowers where they will have to be moved often.
As far as dog tools go? My tool belt. My uncle gave it to me for Christmas '98, and I don't think I even wore it. Over the past few days, i was thinking of it's possible potential as a kickback shield while using the TS. Will have to dig it out and see.
