I've spend the weekend baby-sitting with my twin Grand-children (3yr old). Today they went off to nursery school and I had a couple of hours free.

My wife babysat last week while my daughter and her new husband were off on their honeymoon.

So I head out in my car looking for something to do.

I'm not much of a shopper, unless I have a purpose and like Jockmike2 stated last week he was returning stuff that he didn't need. I just thought I'd be ahead of the game and not even buy (which keeps the returning process to a minimum)

Then I thought of Lew. I had his address in my GPS and I clicked it and it stated that I'd get there in 1 Hr and 2 minutes. So I called him. He was up for a visit.

The GPS lied. I think it considers one mile of city and one mile of country as taking the same time. It didn't work out that way for me. The traffic in Gettysburg was not bad but it still takes a fair amount of time to weave around all of the souvenir shops.

I arrived at Lew's about 1:30 hours later and sat down for a cup of coffee and a plate of cookies. Lew's wife was trying to get rid of cookies. (Lew sent the plate home with me when I left. - really just the cookies not the plate)

We talked for a while and then went to the shop. (This item is required to be accomplished to be considered as an "Official LumberJock" visit.)

Lewis coming to the Mason Dixon Woodworkers meeting to present a workshop on his Special Rolling Pins. So we were discussing the jig that he is going bring. His jig will probably not fit the table saw at the workshop so I was wanting to see that we make a comparable one for his use at the shop.

A great visit. I left him a couple of pieces of wood that I found in my car.

Glad you liked the cookies. Thanks for the wood- I really do appreciate it!

I already have the blank started for the dark rolling pin- had to do something while waiting for Mimi to return so we could finish our errands for the day.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at the meeting!

Hey there guys, I haven't had a visit yet, just missed one with Troy from Fairbanks, but I was on call, and not available. If cookies are in the offing, I'd be there. And if you stop by here, Sherie makes great cookies….........

.........even for Dennis and Grizzman….........

Ok two questions…and a comment.

1) Does Lew look like his cartoon avatar? ANd how about his wife…are they real people or just cartoons?
2) You have wood in your car???? Is your HUMONGOUS rack so full that you are stashing wood under the seats? That is a problem…you need wood anonymous…

Comment: Nice life…retirement. JUNE IS CLOSER THOUGH…

Sounds like fun Gents…I wish I was an 1.5 hours away--even days…someday I will get out there…glad you guys had a chance to hang out…and the cookies sound good…

I have had the very distinct pleasure of seeing Jockmike2 3 times over the last four weeks. The first time was to work on his computer and that visit lasted around 9 hours. It was really nice to meet someone that I had a lot in common with. I will be seeing him again this weekend to take him to a woodworking show in the Detroit area and then to SteveMI's shop. Hopefully.

Spent 3 years in Madison, learning OB-GYN, and of course, got to Sun Prairie.

........strange about that rolling pin…....sometimes we think it is alive….......

Got hold of one…...........yup, just like in the picture…......

My wife is into perfecting Pizza Crust. Got one of Lew's pins…......threw out all her other pins.

WORKS PERFECTLY, THE DOUGH DOESN'T STICK TO LEW'S PINS….......best pin ever….......

It's probably the hardwood and the finish.

If you ever get one…...don't tell anyone…......it's like advertising that the Hope diamond is sitting on your coffee table in the living room…...............shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Sounds like a nice visit. If you visit Lew, does he give you a rolling pin? Had I known that I'd have been there long ago! I could have used it tonight while making a Cherry, Blueberry, Raspberry pie. Hey, Lew, want a piece of pie? (It'll cost ya' a rolling pin!) Well, I don't keep wood in my car, but I make sure I have a pair of gloves and a saw and a tarp. I can't wait for the snow to all melt as I'm sure there's some interesting wood to be harvested from our storms.

Lew gave me one of his Pins last summer when he came by my shop.

And yes I usually have wood in my car because I picking up or taking to the toy workshop.

I had emptied my car of wood before going to Baltimore and when I unpacked my bags I saw 4 pieces in the car. So maybe splinters grew.

A piece of Honduras Mahogany 10/4 X 16/4 X 35" long (big splinter) and 3 pieces of Sapele 1 X 4 X 44 and some smaller but longer pieces. They were too long to fit sideways in my van and must have gotten pushed forward into the back seat.

So I gifted them to Lew. He'll get a couple of pins out of them.

Hmm, Karson visits Lew and gets cookies. Karson gives wood to Lew. Lew makes rolling pins from wood so wife can make more cookies. Cue music: "Circle of Life" from the Lion King. Seriously guys, nice story and kind gestures from both of you.
