That's odd. mouse over every other one of the small pics and it shows up in the large pic. But mouse over the vise and the page goes blank. The small pic is TOO SMALL to see the darn thing!

Based on the screw's handle alone, the vise looks like a Columbian. Mine has a pipe for the arms. If it is a Columbian, that's a pretty good vise. I picked one up at an estate sale for $35 about a month ago:

Good luck with the vise.

Hi, Looks to be a Craftsman 506-51890, which can be found on Ebay starting at about $100 with shipping and going up. I believe they were made by Columbian Vise which has identical vises with Columbian markings. I just purchased one and am working on cleaning and painting.

It is big and heavy and the screw threads look unworn. There is a bit of play in the front jaw and it racks about an eighth of an inch with moderate pressure.

An ID picture.

PS Does anyone know how to remove the slide pin from the dog?

I have replaced the metal dogs on my current vises with hard wood dogs, which have worked well and reduced the need for shims and pads.

Yep, certainly looks like a basic 10in Columbian with that handle holder shape. A little clean up and it should be a very good vise.

PS Does anyone know how to remove the slide pin from the dog?

The ones on both of my vises are friction fit into holes. It should just pull straight out.
