I found a used Jet JWBS-14CS, Asking price is $550.
From the pictures it looks to be in descent shape but definitely has some wear.
I am thinking of offering $350 and go from there, I think they sell new for $750.
I have to weigh this against a new Grizzly for $550.
The motor was replaced with a 2HP 220V but said it could wired for 110V.
I am worried I don't have a 110V circuit that can carry that amperage and would have get 220V installed.
As far as moving can these things be disassembled into pieces that are manageable (less than 50 lbs each)?

Forgot to mention it has a 6" riser block and mobile base. So maybe that's worth another $100?
Does the riser block have drawbacks besides needing a longer blade? I don't plan to do any resawing that big, so maybe i would remove it if the blade needs replacing.

I bought that same saw (with riser) basically unused for $275. No fence. Hold out or talk him down. It's a good saw but underpowered for resawing so your 2hp motor would be nice. Also getting 220V is not as scary as people might think. I wired three 220V outlets into my shop in a morning (mind you the breaker box is in the shop)

I got the same saw off CL for $200. $550 is too much for that saw used (or maybe even new). I love the saw, just wouldn't pay that for it. Good luck, you're going to love having a band saw once you get the right one.

Edit: No riser block or mobile base when I bought it (but I added both later), also stock 1 hp motor. I gotta learn 2 reed gooder.

Too high. With the modifications I would be wary. Go with the new Griz., keep looking for something else, or offer $250. If you don't plan on using the resaw height, go back to stock and save some $$ on blades if you get this Jet.
Just MHO.

Is the 2hp motor a decent one like a TEFC Baldor Marathon Leeson and in great shape? That motor alone would change the equation as well as any upgrades to the bandsaw like fence, upgraded guides, etc. The resaw riser block also adds value. I recently sold my 15 year old US made Delta band saw for 500 dollars but it had fasttrack fence, mobile base, iturra tension spring, new cool blocks, Iturra spinner tension knob and acme thread and it was in great shape with only 1 HP motor open drip proof and no riser block plus three new blades. Without all those add one I would have easily taken 250 to 300 for it. Regardless I'd get a new Grizzly as the quality control on old Jet bandsaws wasn't that great and new Grizzly have excellent quality control and come with decent stuff included.

I would take the 14 inch band saw for less than a hundred from the offered price. How old is the band saw?
Does it also come with extra blades or upgrades?
