South African Indigenous Blanks on Sale

I am not a turner, so I won't be taking advantage of this opportunity, but I heard this through the grapevine and thought I'd share for all of you who might be interested.

Red Ivory Trading in South Africa (website redivorytrading.co.za) is going through tough times, and to try keep afloat, they are discounting their prices for a short while. I have no affiliation with them, and have never met them, but I'd like to help fellow LJ's and a conservation-minded wood dealer weather these tough times.

They deal mostly in turning blanks of indigenous trees, many of which you may not be able to find elsewhere. Species like Paper Bark, Monkey Thorn, Cape Holly, Red Milkwood (a protected species), Kiatt, Taboti, Marula, etc.

I spoke to Barry (the owner) an hour ago, and he is on his way to a meeting with potential investors, so this deal may be short lived. Their website is quite basic, and does not show pricing, but if you mail them and say you heard it from Paul in Mtunzini he'll at least know my call wasn't bogus.

Good luck and please let me know if you get anything good out of this.

Cheers,
Paul
