Stowable Sliding Rotating Planer Stand

Space, or the lack thereof, is always the main concern for the owner of a small shop. I have been trying to figure out what to do with my planer ever since I purchased it. It weighs 92 pounds, so I can't easily store it on a shelf or in a drawer. I also don't have enough room for a dedicated planer stand. Up until the making of the video, I just kept it on top of my workbench, sliding it around when I needed it or to get it out of the way. There had to be a better way.
The following video shows what I came up with. I had an idea of what I wanted, I had some parts, but didn't exactly jump in with a plan. The result is a little rough, but it proves the concept and should improve with each iteration.
Enjoy!

Good idea. I would add some time of stop, so when you are planing there is no chance of rotating.

Really appreciate your concept, skills & end result. However, the fast action made it kinda hard to follow. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the input ka, I'm learning how to better edit my videos to get the information across. This was one of my earlier works, so I understand it seems rushed. I just didn't want it to be super long. I probably had 2-3 hours of footage! I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the build.

Fish, you are right about the stop. I have something set up to to lock it in the extended position, but not the rotation yet.

Quick and Easy Lumber Storage Rack

I sold my old lumber storage solution which was… inelegant, to put it lightly. I am purposely storing this set of lumber outside, half because I ran out of room in my indoor storage, but also to have a bit of weathered wood handy, should the need arise. I went simple with this, using some pallet runners, I bored some holes at a slight angle ever so slightly undersized for the conduit pieces I had prepared as shelf supports. I then attached the wood brackets to the wall and hammered in the shelf supports. I limited the amount of vertical and horizontal space available on the shelf so I wouldn't be tempted to overload it with wood. It seems that 12" height and 12" depth is a reasonable amount of space that won't cause shelf support collapse under the weight of the wood. It was a quick and easy solution to a common problem and I hope you enjoy the video and find some inspiration in the process. Thanks for watching!
