Setting Planer Blades Delta/Rockwell/Invicta 22-650 or similar

Hello!

I bought the following knife setting jig from Woodcraft, but I'm not sure how to use it.

http://www.woodcraft.com/product/0/4444/small-planer-knife-jig-set.aspx

How far above the cutter head should the knives protrude?

The manual does not say, because this planer came with a jig that would automatically set the knives to the correct height. Needless to say, I do not have that jig.

Thanks,

Chris

If you have knives installed presently just set up your magnets at the existing setting then remove and replace.

All things are important when setting planer knives but the relationship from cutter head to knife protrusion will not be as crucial as knife to pressure bar and in/ out feed rollers.

I'm sure a search will result in that data for you.

enjoy! JB
BTW after you have one setting jig set where you want it I would recomend setting the other one at the same location then compare the reading as the stick on scale may not be consistent from one to the next.
