Blum - Ecodrill (Rating: 4)
I have been working on several cabinet projects in recent months. In the past I have done the hinges using drill press then just used wood screws. I went to a sale where someone was closing shop and had the ecodrill, so thought I'd give it a try. Not sure I would buy it for the $300 it usually costs. It makes positioning the holes trivial and precise (set the offset from the edge, has index for positioning hinges top to bottom and built in clamps). Depts are perfect every time. Additionally for the screws it will either drill for plastic inserts or just put a tiny shallow hole so screws are perfect … Hinges get installed square every time. In a nut shell it makes things really quick. Guess its specifically targeted at hinge installation onsite.
