Question for finishing with a sprayer.

1035 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  gfadvm
About to sell a set of Adirondacks to someone who wants them stained walnut. Using WRC wood.

I plan to mix the stain with the spar oil base and use my spray gun.

What should the mix ratio be in order to spray them both at once? If it's even possible.

Thanks.

Russell, consider adding the stain to de-waxed shellac, then spray the oil over the shellac. Test on samples first. FWIW
I have done that with MW stain and Spar. I added stain and wiped it on scrap until I had the color I wanted, then sprayed it. Turned out very slightly darker than the wipe on test. But I laid on 2 pretty thick coats with the sprayer.
