Looking for a hand here:
I just bought a VERY used Millers Falls 14c off of eBay, and after the evaporated soak, it's evident that the iron has some pitting on the back.
I read a FWW article that recommended using a back bevel in this scenario, and I'd like some help with that process.
What I've done so far is attempt to flatten the back (which led me to the back bevel idea), and ground a primary 30 deg bevel with a 2 deg or so micro bevel.
I guess my question is, what are the 'back and forth' steps between the micro and back bevels. In other words, traditionally I would have honed the micro and the removed the wire edge from the back by drawing the iron flat across the 2000x sandpaper, however I'm now confused since I have a back bevel and not a flat back!
Do I hone the micro, then the back bev and that's it, or should I be removing a wire edge from
somewhere as the final step??
