I've been sick of using the 12" wide outfeed roller stand for over a year now so I'm finally making a fold down outfeed table that'll only add about an inch to the depth of my saw cabinet when the table is folded down. Here's my cabinet before the addition…. http://lumberjocks.com/projects/27579
I had to take a different approach and make a frame attached to my cabinet and the cast iron wing of the saw.

After attaching the support arms I added a couple of angle iron pieces to the inside to prevent flex in the wings and then added the maple back and a poplar strip to the front.

The fixed table is made up of 4 pieces of 1/2" ply and I laminated the three top pieces. Creating 3 separate pieces for the top allowed me to easily create the miter channels. I still need to run a router through the back of the frame so my sled isn't blocked.

The fixed portion of the table is rock solid and will easily support the fold down portion of the table. I have plans to make the fold down portion of the table a duel purpose table ~ an outfeed table and a sanding table.
I chose to abandon the sanding portion due to a potential issue with too much weight hanging out on the table. I can always add it later on if I find out that having x amount of weight on the end of the outfeed table will not be an issue.

Thanks guys. That's exactly what I have to do in my garage shop; roll tools up against the wall to still be able to park the cars in the garage. There are a lot of well done folding outfeed tables on the LJ site all using the same concept. My support leg will be slightly different than how others have made theirs. very nice. I like the way you did the fold up section.. You could add a leg that folds down instead of using the roller stand. Just put a threaded insert in the bottom of the leg and adjust the height with a large head bolt. thanks Frank. the roller stand is temporary as I'm currently designing and building a foldUP support leg that requires no adjustments. My table will soon be a table I just lift up and lock into place and I'm good to go ~ I hope.
