Getting Started

I've decided to build a new workbench. The sorry thing I'm using now does not really qualify as one. Maybe as an assembly table or work surface, definitley not a real workbench. I've posted more details about the decision that led me to build a new bench and choice of materials on my personal blog.

Greetings:.... A good solid workbench in a woodshop is a MUST. You just can't do good work without one.
You want a bench that has plenty of "muscle", and won't rack or bounce around when/ if you
pound on it. It needs to have a stout base and solid top (say 2", or better). It has to be able
to take all the abuse you throw at it, and hold it's on. I think besides the tablesaw, a good
workbench is #2 on the list of tools.

Thanks for sharing. It looks good! I will be building a bench this Summer as well. Looking forward to a decent work surface.

Thank you for taking the time to show us your workbench and its progress. I wish I was building a workbench I really need one. I also wish that great looking southern yellow pine was sold at lumber yards here in California.
