As you can see I need a lot of advice. I just got my new Delta Fence installed and the tables set up the way I want them but I don't know the best way to place the following items. Most things can be moved but a few I would rather not due to the amount of work involved. Those are the Table Saw as is of course, the radial arm saw, the metal cabinets are all full but one, lumber rack, work benches and the 5 ft x 10 ft project table that the Delta fence box is resting on. Here is a list of what I have to relocate.

Router table
Band Saw
Drill Press
Dust Collectors
Miter Saw
Large Home-made Belt Sander
Metal Band Saw
Grinder
Wire wheel
6 inch Jointer
I do not have a business I'm just a DIY person so I don't have to worry about employees. My shop is 20' wide and 40' long. That is what I have to work with.

You might want to take your router table and combine it with the right-side TS top. It is a great saver of space.
The DC should drop down from overhead and (if possible) be located outside in a storage shed. (opens up floor space/ cuts down on noise/ and micro-pleated material becomes moot.)

It might be easier if you post a diagram of your shop with all the items that can not be moved in place and the rest of the area left blank. Then we could see what would work best for placement of the rest of your tools. Make sure you include any windows and doors in the diagram.

It's all trial and error . I must have rearranged my shop a 200 times over the years.

Grizzly has a system where you can select tools and place them in the shop that you dimension. You might start there and then you would have an idea of how you want to place things.

Couldn't find the shop setup on grizzly but I got a lot done in the shop. I'll take pictures and post them and a diagram of the space left for use on Thursday (tomorrow).

I have all the tools that need placed in a group to make it easier for you guys helping me to offer suggestions. I'll post the dimension of each one and the open area also. The new pictures will help you get a better view of what needs to be done. larry

The Grizzly shop setup program is somewhere on the Grizzly site. I've used it before.

I can't really help you with the organizing, I've got enough on my hands designing mine.
What brand is your band saw? It looks identical to mine and I've yet to find any information on my bandsaw.

GEEEZ…I wouldn't even know where to start in your shop…lol. I'd probably move eveything out and start all over… Try to arrange your work flow…..by that I mean center the tablesaw so as to have plenty of room all the way around it (at least 8 ft.) for handling sheet stock and long boards. Place your jointer, planer, RAS, miter saw, etc. to create a work flow, so you can move from one machine to the next smoothly, and not have to walk your legs off getting to one. Tablesaw with outfeed table to diminision lumber, then to the jointer, then planer, then mitersaw, et.c , etc…..then on to the assembly table, if you have one….keep it tight….keep it close…..keep things up and out of the way…..a place for everything and….you know the rest…once you get the workflow area squared away, you're in business…...here's what I'm talking about…..see my woodshop pictures, and woodshop pics #2 under my blogs….....

Wow Rick, what a nice shop. A real inspiration to get mine looking something like that. I'll never have that kind of cabinet work. That is Great!

I have a built on work bench across the window end of the shop that will have to stay. On the long (right) side I have about 9 or ten feet of table to the left of my RAS and about 5 ft on the right side. All that is built on. On the left from the window workbench is another 7 ft workbench that holds my router things, metal clamps pipe wrenches and hacksaw, punches & the likes.

I think my biggest problem is I have too many needs rolled into one shop. Welding, all my rental property repair needs, stained glass items, lawn tractor items, minor mechanical stuff, metal lathe, electric hack saws, plumbing and on and on all in one shop.
I may have to close off a portion of the barn for a lot of these other things in order to get it organized but then things are so scattered out when I need them. Just not sure how to handle it. The metal cabinets are all full but one. I also have all sorts of cut off pieces that I hate to get rid of because I'm always pulling something out of that mess to use. Sometimes I feel like selling everything and then just go fishing.

I noticed some things on rollers and some things not on rollers. The more things that are on rollers in a small shop the better off you will be. Everything in my shop is on rollers except for the drill press and main work table. Anything except those two that is not connected to the walls is on rollers. While I'm working on projects I move some things from here to there and it's not a problem. Considering my room I am very happy with the way that I have everything arranged and everything usually stays where it is. But if I need to move something temporarily I can do it. If it were otherwise I would run into all kinds of problems.

Very good point, sir…I forgot to mention in my post that I also have all my major machines on casters, except things like the tablesaws, workbenches, RAS and miter station, & drill press…. all the rest are mobil and can be moved to anywhere in the shop…..even the two assembly tables are on casters…..Once I'm finished with them, they are moved back to "where they live" till the next project…..everything has its place….Glad you brought up that point, cause I sure forgot to. It was pretty late when I posted, so I was probably getting sleepy by then….

What I need is advice on placing the tools left over in the space shown in red. The one cabinet with the red line to it will be gone soon. The items listed with their sizes are what I need help on locating. Maybe I should just bunch them up and use them as I need them. larry

I think your TS outfeed table is bigger than my entire shop!! ok not really, but that is a nice table.

I agree with Kevin's comment about the router table being integrated into the table saw. I also think that it may be good for you to integrate the mitre saw, drill press (if it's a benchtop model… I didn't see it in the photos), planer, etc etc as attachable parts of the table saw outfeed table.

My shop is also small (a 2 stall garage) and I use this approach. I'm building a bench right now have holes drilled in it for the planer, drill press, router table, etc. Then, when not using a specific tool, it'll just get stored on a shelf.

As for the dust collector. Stash it in a corner, or outside (in a covered shed or something) and run hoses to your tools.

Looks like you've got the makings of a really nice shop!
