This is just too cool

In one of my previous blogs I had mentioned how we sometimes come across a piece of wood that we have no idea what we are going to do with it. Well this is one of the. We didnt think we would be able to run a cord becuase it was so thin. Well Tim has got this piece well on its way to becoming a lamp. (Never mind the dust on the walls, we are working on getting this dust problem fixed)

These two pictures are after he has shaped the rough edges and is getting ready to sandblast.

The last three pictures are after it has been blasted, the red is not as dark but more vibrant.

He drilled the holes after these pictures were taken and he is on the process of getting it all sanded. I will finish sanding this tomorrow while he is patching the other lamps. This lamp will not need a base.

I will post more pictures of this lamp tomorrow and the patch work over the next few days.

Candy,

I can see that it takes both imagination and artistic talent to produce one of these lamps. I don't think I would have "seen" a lamp in this piece of wood.

Nice post.

Simply amazing! Where do you find wood that looks like that? Any time I go into the woods, all I see are sticks!

Well when we first started going out we would see sticks as well and bring a lot of sticks home. This wood grows all over here where we live in the NW corner of Colorado, it can be found in WYoming and Utah as well. Not all juniper wood is twisted you just have to really hunt for it.
