Hey you guys, how are you all?
I'm posting these photos of my bed canopy in progress made of wooden I-beams,etc. I'll probably have the canopy done by Sunday and then I'm starting on the hoist trolley for it. The hoist trolley is going to be really cool with four double axel trucks/8-flanged wheels riding on the bottom flange of the I-beams and naturally a cross trolly. I'll keep you all posted if you'd like?
You can see in these photos the swivel pads on the headboard where the I-beam pins, the swivel pads on the shoe rack where the upright columns pin, the beam scab plates that pin the beam to the uprights, and the barely started raw I-beams that yet to have the flanges glued on and the large holes yet to be cut in them for weight [like a real crane or other heavy piece of structural eqipment].
I have about 72 bosses to drill and saw out with a holesaw tomorrow [actually later today now] and numerous other parts to make even before I start in on the trolly, just to get the structural canopy up and going. I had to make some new tooling, i.i. jigs and fixtures along the way so could manoeuvre the long pieces alone, e.g. an out feed table for my little 'toy saw' and infeed roller.
I'm trying to put it all together with mostly adhesives.
I wanted to thank all of you who have visited my crane and to those in particular who chose it as their favourite.
Thx for sharing it with us.
