Let's say you have a project which has 2 different species of wood. The first is the bulk of the project and is a common wood like oak which you're required to stain. The second is an exotic wood which is only used as an accent like a spline or plug. My question is, is there a trick to staining the oak without touching the exotic? Assume that for this particular project you really can't add the exotic wood after staining the oak because it requires some sanding and/or cutting. Or is this just not possible?
