I picked up some sweet gum in a stack of pallet wood and used it to make a play table for my two year old daughter:

The problem is, I've run out of sweet gum and I need to make two chairs to go with the table. Apparently it's not very easy to find sweet gum in Minnesota, so I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a wood species/dye combination that might look kind of like the sweet gum grain. The finish on the table is just polyurethane. Thanks!

Some walnut might look good with it.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been considering walnut; I actually do have some sweetgum left over, perhaps I'll use it for the chair seats and walnut for the rest.
