Lumber yard recommendations in NJ?

6050 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  jeh412
Hi-

Does anyone know of any good places in Central NJ to buy woodworking lumber? I live in Manalpan, NJ (not far from Freehold, Princeton, and New Brunswick) and I have not been able to find a lumber yard/store with a decent selection of wood. I'm always driving through Northern NJ for work, so any recommendations in Central or Northern NJ would be great. I'm not even looking for a wide selection of exotics…any place with a selection of walnut, cherry, mahogany, maple, and quarter sawn oak would be fine. I've ordered wood from Rockler and Bell Forest, both of whom have good products, but it's not the same as being able to hand select your own boards….not to mention shipping and handling charges, delivery time, etc.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

You might want to try Woodfinder.com. This may be helpful in finding a source in your area. Another option is to keep an eye on Craigslist. I have found some good lumber deals in my area.
Check with LumberJock "Karson". If anyone know, he does.
try U.S. Mahogany Co. in Aberdeen or Williard brothers in Trenton,.
Thanks guys - I appreciate your help!
mc2,
It's not New Jersey, but if you ever get out towards Harrisburg or Hershey, PA, there's a great mill close by. Marshall's Wood Products http://www.marshallswoodproducts.com/ in Grantville, PA, is right on Rt 22 and just off I-81. You can run out I-78, which merges into I-81.

I buy almost all my hardwoods from them, at very good prices. Family run place, good people!
