My first entry at LJ's was a yurt

My first post here was nearly seven years ago and it was one of my original 16' yurts. It was back in the early days when there was only 1,431 projects http://lumberjocks.com/projects/1431. Back then I was experimenting with design details for the compression hub along with the door. I have since fine tuned many design details and have been using recycled vinyl for the canvas. I call them Light Feet Yurts . If I am setting one up as a portable yurt it takes about a half hour with the help of another experienced yurtsman, one hour by myself. When setting up one as a permanent installation I go with a few extra details and it takes longer. Yurts have become a steady source of income since making my first post here at LJ's. I now have many options that I offer such as sizes, doors, floors, insulation and windows. I use 95% eco friendly materials including the canvas and lumber that I produce myself from salvage logs. I will post more information and photos that might help others who may want to pursue a yurt project.

Nice work TreeBones. It is funny how time progresses along with endeavors. The yurts are pretty cool but the second to last photo with the giant looking in at the people inside the yurt kind of freaks me out.

Camp Fire Yurt Workshop Recovery Project

Been a long road but the yurt adventure has grown over the years. I am now the project coordinator for the Camp Fire Emergency Shelter and Recovery Project. Providing on site emergency construction of yurt shelters. Made with lumber materials saw milled from salvaged trees at or nearby area impacted by the Camp Fire.

The final product, a tangible, easily portable yurt shelter owned by fire victims that participate in building their temporary home. The Camp Fire Emergency Shelter and Recovery Project will provide a hands-on experience. Instilling a vision leading towards a means to an end of the traumatic effects of the Camp Fire.
