I am tossing around the idea of building a roubo style bench and trying my best to save money. I have about 100 square feet of 3 1/2" wide by 3/4" thick tonge and groove maple flooring. I was thinking of cutting the tongue off and laminating a stack of them together to make a 3" thick top. Does anyone think I will have trouble making a top from material this thin? Every bench i have seen seems to use 6/4 or bigger boards. Also, the bottom faces of the hardwood has 2 wide grooves. Do you think I will have a problem glueing it up with those grooves?
