Gary, I haven't seen any negative reviews on the Grizzly, I have the 513×2 ( without the brake ) and love it. There are a few niggling things - like the screws to lock the blade guides are hex not tool less, by that is pretty common and you can change them out most of them for thumbscrews. I thought about the brake , but honestly don't think I would ever use it, so if you can get the x3, I would buy that and spend the savings on blades.

I would agree with everyone here , Grizzly makes a good product for the money and the reviews speak volumes about them . A friend of mine bought a Laguna 14" last year , he gave up a 18" Steal City BS for it , ( which I now own ) he loves the new BS .

If you read the Laguna reviews they aren't the greatest . Depending how close I live to Laguna would be my deciding factor on buying one . That way if I did have problems I would show up on their doorstep. :)

I don't own tools from either company, but every bandsaw review I've read rates the Lagunas at the top of the "Best Tool" list. The Grizzly stuff is also very highly rated, so if Laguna's customer service is as crappy as I've heard, you may be better off with the Griz.

GRIZZLY….if you only have those two to decide between. Laguna used to have a great machine but they have outsourced to China (as have most of the other companies) which caused their quality to tank badly - Grizzly makes them there too but their qua….then they have the customer support nightmares that I have read several times on these blogs and many of the other sites that I follow or visit. Until you hear of a major improvement in reviews - Laguna is a DO NOT BUY rating as far as I have heard.

If you want other choices look at Delta, Jet or Powermatic - Rikon is making inroads these days also.

I agree with reggiek,

i also walk up to grizzly tools everyday. I am extremely fussy with my tools, how thier built, ease of operation and just peer performance. I love thier customer service, I've purchased very expensive tools from them and if thier was ever a issue they simply sent me what I needed fast!!! Like via- overnite. Very proud to have the bears in the basement. GRIZZ!!!!
