Lacewood Media Storage Shelf

Hi All,

Here's a recent project I built that organizes my DVD collection.
It's a very simple project to build for those who have a limited tool collection but lends itself to more complex joinery if you so desire.

Hello All,

Thanks for your kind words.
I like Lacewood, it's easy to work, glues easily and takes a finish well.
I don't think I would like a dining room table made from this material, it's just too busy but for a smaller piece like this, it works well.

Your tablesaw sled caught my attention. What's the philosophy behind it's design? The fence is at the back of the sled instead of the traditional (99 percent) front of the sled.

A fun project. Definitely looks the part.

I'm wondering what the Lacewood would have looked like with black finished metal brackets?

Just a thought.

An excellent project Gord and a very fine tutorial video too. I think it would be a great project to build with my grandsons (one at a time), as they could surely use this kind of storage and they would therefore be enthusiastic to build it. Thanks for posting it.

Hi Marty,

I guess I wanted to be different, seriously though, it's just the way I was taught and this particular sled is great for squaring up panels.

I think it would be good for paperback books too.
Excellent for tight space where horizontal space is limited.
