Skooch, I was going to suggest the same thing that Scott did. One suggestion I would have is to look over the projects and if you see something in which you would be interested send a message to that member. Most of us tend to work from our own designs rather than commercial plans but it is possible that they would have a design to share.

Hey skooch,
The place to start is what size top(footprint) do you want.

You want to leave about three feet minimum between the top/cabinets of the island and the tops/cabinets at the walls, more if you have it, 42in. is good if two people prep. and cook at the same time.

I f you want seating at the island add about two feet to the three ft. Will it be one level or two, any appliances or a sink.

Figure out some of the basics and the design will begin to show it's self.
