For the life of me I cant get my Perfomax 22-44 drum sander to be parallel to the conveyer table. ARRRGGGg! I'm beginning to think that its just an alternate reality that we will wonder about ,but never be apart of.
Do any of you have any tips?

And you thought I was going to start a topic on an "evil Hall of Justice'? (Didn't Superman have an eye patch?)

I don't own a drum sander but… have you run your adjustments out to their extremes? Often times we keep adjusting to one side or direction and wind up at the end of the adjuster's travel. What we need to do is center both adjuster at the middle of their range and then adjust both in concert with each other to true up the drum or trunion or what have you.

I have a jet 22-44 and I have ajusted it by placing 2 blocks of equal thickness under each end of the drum after loosening the adjusting bolts. As I re-tighten the bolts I apply downdard pressure by hand. This works quite well for me.
After adjusting I run a wide board through and check accuracy with my dial calipers.

Open-ended drum sanders don't do parallel. Do the best you can
and flip the work to even out the results.

Take light cuts and run the work through at each height setting
at least twice.

If you want to go a little crazy try this, get a battery double A, some wire and a flashlight bulb. Conect the battery and bulb in line and conect it to a metal ruler. Now conect the other end to the bare drum, put the ruler under the motor end and lower it till the light goes on, then move it to the open end and using the adjustment screw lower it till the light goes on, your parallel, tighten it down there.

I'm intrigued with Ton D's solution, but I can't for the life of me visualize the wiring diagram of this method.
(by the way, I have my 16-32 in pretty good alignment, but only after plenty of trial and error)
