I love to build things, work around the house remodeling, and fixing things, but one thing I hate is plumbing. It always seems no matter how simple the project, it always takes 10 trips to the store for parts, I can never get the old plumbing apart, and I always have leaks.

The most recent was a leaky bathroom faucet. I tried to get it apart to change the washer, but just couldnt get it apart. Everything was corroded. I have tons of tools, but nothing worked without damaging the faucet. I finally decided to replace the entire faucet. Bought a nice Kohler replacement, and guess what…I couldnt get the pipes apart under the sink. Everything seemed welded together. Anyway, gave my reciprocating saw a good workout cutting the pipes apart. Went to the store and apparently the PVC pipes they used when building the house was Tibco which doesnt work with the standard PVC fittings. Finally ran around and found Tibco at Lowes. I finally got everything replaced. It was a victory of sorts. It was a miracle for me that nothing was leaking afterwards :)

Man, I hate plumbing.

Know what you mean Wayne. I live on a nice horse ranch. I bought it from the original owner who had it built. Everything is nice but, the guy that did the plumbing used weird sizes of everything. Drives me crazy when I have to do plumbing. Nothing standard fits. Electrician was weird too. All the plugs are upside down. If there's two switches next to each other, they always seem to work just the opposite of what you'd think. But, all the woodwork is good!

Been plummin for 33 years, My knees are worn out, and I hate it as much as you. I got a real job as a Maintenance Engineer at a convent. Nobody there seems to know how to use a plunger, but I DO LOVE MY JOB.

Thanks Snowy, I even had trouble changing out my garbage disposal. The old pipe that cuts across from the thing just didn't fit in fact the outlet to the pipe was just a hair higher than the old disposal, the whole project should have been so much easier, all I can say about plumbing is it is easier to deal with a big difference than to deal with a minor difference.
Plumbing is mind numbing.

I'm with you 100%, Wayne. A plumbing job always seems simple in theory. But when you actually do it, there are 20 things that will go wrong, requiring 3 trips to the hardware store while your wife holds the bucket under the leaking part. Personally, I'd rather have a root canal than do plumbing work.

KHOP: Having spent my grade school years being taught/terrorized by nuns, I can tell you that doing plumbing work in a convent is as close to Hell as I can possibly imagine!

I know exactly what you mean Wayne.

I decided to upgrade my galvanized pipes to copper. It's a small house so no big deal, right? Wrong.

I worked into the middle of the night for three days straight until finally my back went out and I had to call my wife's favorite plumber.

He fixed it all up after ripping out everything I did and gave my wife stict instructions not to let ever let me do plumbing again.

I just refuse to do plumbing. I've done it a few times, and hated every minute of it.

Never fails: I get leaks out the ying yang, my back is killing me, my new knees hurt, and I can't up off the floor real good, either. I told my wife I've plenty of mun for a qualified plumber, and he can have all of it-just keep this sucker from leaking-- I've had it. One thing I know-- wood don't leak. It may swell, but not leak!!!!

Sounds like I could have charged people based on thier hate for the trade. Common sense was the best tool I used when plumbing. OH the stories I could tell though. Gotta go, I hear a stool running. KHOP
