A hot deal is a significant discount (including shipping) on DIY or workshop related tools, machines, clothing, books, lumber, or general interest items. Use your discretion. If you think we would be interested, post it. Please include a link, if online, a description, and the price. The discount amount in % or $$ is appreciated but not required.

Examples:
  • eBay Buy It Now (BIN)
  • Amazon sales, Deal of the Day (DOTD)
  • Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD)
  • Sales, Coupons, Coupon Codes
  • Lowes/HD closeouts
  • Craigslist finds
  • Black Friday

NOT hot deals:
20% off HF coupon, because they are available all the time.
Cheaply made tools.
eBay auctions, because we don't know the final price until the auction ends.
Your favorite or most useful tool.
Amazon "Just Launched" sellers with very low prices (scammer)
Amazon sellers that ask you to email first (scammer)

  • What is an Amazon Warehouse Deal? It is an item with damaged packaging or the item itself may be damaged. It could have been dropped off a truck, punched with a fork truck, opened for a photograph, or a customer return. They are sold as used and the manufacturer warranty may be void. Most of the AWD I've bought were only damaged packaging but you are taking a risk. Note: just because they are sold as "used" does not mean they are actually used. Some customers scam Amazon by returning junk instead of the real product and Amazon may ship that wrong item to you.

  • Amazon '2 Left' Deals Occasionally there will be a super low price on a new item that says "Only 2 left in stock". Buy one and the last one jumps back to full price or you can buy both at the reduced price. For example you might see a $50 widget for $8, 2 Left. If you buy one, the last one jumps back to $50, or you can buy both for $8 each ($16 total).

  • Once in a great while there will be "1 left" and Amazon decides they want it gone and it will drop in price until someone buys it.

I've never heard of these guys before…. very cool died plywood and resin infused plywood. Looks like a great option for knife scales or pistol grips.

Bookmarked for future reference.

Ive bought in the past from them and was a good experience. The product worked out well for bottlestoppers and a few other lathe projects. No voids
I've never seen the Dymalux before but I see the Spectraply turning blanks at Woodcraft from time to time and I've seen a few turned projects. The plys usually look pretty cool once turned or sculpted. BTW, if you sign up for their email list you'll get the notifications for future promotions. Seems like they come about every 3 or 4 months but this is the best one that I have seen so far.
boy howdy, i ordered some of the stopper squares and some slabs for knives and a few of the dymalux, to see how it will work on a couple of items, big discount essentially ended up with free shipping and a few more dollars off
thanks for posting info

Going to the Woodworking show (in New Jersey) tomorrow. What good deals should I be looking for there?

With Peachtree not being there, there wasn't much in terms of "deals". The only real deal I took advantage of was Woodpecker offering $10 off $100 purchase. Also, if you have Woodpeckers in your sight, get there first thing before they open and rush to their booth if you want a chance at any of their retired One-Time tools. They will have some there; first come first serve. Can't think of anything else that was a fantastic deal off hand, but it is fun to look through all the booths. With your location, you may have more nearby vendors than we did in Tampa. Happy hunting.
Hmmmmm, still doing the double tap thing…

Jet is offering 10% off 3/1/19 through 3/11/19 on Woodworking machinery and accessories. Looks like it includes free shipping too.
I was in the Boise Woodcrafters this week, and they had mahogany and purpleheart turning blanks on sale. I didn't see an ad, but I think it worked out to about 40% off - a mahogany blank that was marked at $20 sold for $12. I didn't pay close attention to the purpleheart, but I think it was similar discount.
The eBay app just gave me a list of a bunch of reconditioned tools from DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Ridgid, etc. For example the DW735R planer from CPO outlet is listed for $439. I've seen it lower in the past but not without a 15 to 20% coupon code. And the recon doesn't come with extension tables. Hot deal or not?

I wouldn't feel bad about buying at that price, it's a $600+ planer. I don't use the extension tables on mine and snipe is so minimal that I can't imagine using them would make much difference. Besides you could always make a set.

Weird, when I saw that Rockler price I did some quick math and thought that was the same as the everyday price at Home Depot for those clamps. Well, it is, but it's 2 24s and 2 50s. The 50s are $45 at Home Depot but the 40s are $65. Doesn't make sense.
Rockwell RK9033 JawStand on ebay for $38 BIN and free shipping. They recently had these at the same price and sold out. I expect it'll probably happen again. I keep trying to convince myself I need it at this price but just can't. Others however, may not have that problem.
