Its getting hot in here…. we need a 2.0…
+1 on quality. I have Jet, Bessy, Irwin, Bora, and Bessy uniklamp parallel clamps and that is the order they stack up quality wise. If anyone wants clamps I recommend keeping eyes open for the BOGO deal on Jets from Acme. They will run it again.I remember buying Bessey 50in parallel clamps at HD for $40 each a few weeks ago. That s only $10 more than the Bora Portamate ones and I believe the quality is much better, judging by the Amazon reviews.

Market pricing. The bar was set by Festool. Cost and price have NOTHING to do with one another.I always wonder what it is about a track saw from a component and build standpoint that makes it 4-5 times more expensive than a standard circular saw. Obviously a lot of differences, but 5x the cost? Maybe all the tool makers (really only a few parent companies) decided this would be one of their cash cows.

A warning to anyone considering the WEN sharpening system: the stone is REALLY soft.. probably not close to what you would get with a TORMEK. (I do not own the TORMEK). I use the WEN primarily for sharpening turning gouges (with a TORMEK jig) and I find the stone will very quickly dish out. This may not happen if you are sharpening chisels and plane irons. After watching Matt Estlea s approach to sharpening I really liked the idea, but am a weekend guy so not buying a Tormek because not a production shop (and budget). Found the Wen Wet/Dry Sharpening on Amazon for $150.
Someone in woodworking discord channel pointed out that Home Depot sells them for $113.30 with free shipping.

If anyone out there happens to live in the Chicagoland area.. maybe you already know this.. but there is a guy in the warranty department at the distribution center who sells WEN refurbs off the dock in Elgin. Watch the Chicago suburbs Craigslist if you are interested. Have to pick up, no shipping. He used to sell anything, even brand new items like the standing drill press I picked up for $299 with a reeves drive and DRO.Wen is having a clearance sale through Walmart.com
Wen Tools
Many of the tools are 25% of retail. I bought the WEN 10-Amp 5-Inch Variable Speed Portable Band Saw for Metal for $31.01 - $103 at Lowes.

It's all legit. You get a sales draft from.. I think "Great Lakes Distributing" (the company importing Orange/Yellow WEN branded tools from China)... and everything. Even a 30 day warranty.Wonder if he still has a job!
