You may already know, but Lee Valley has a sale on from today to Saturday - you get 15% back in gift cards for all purchases of Veritas products over $100. So if you're getting that shooting plane you should consider buying it before Saturday.

Depends on what other higher end planes you have. A Veritas BU LAJ, BU smoother, scraper plane would be higher on the list vs the shooting plane. Other thoughts:

High quality spray gun/compressor or turbine system for finishing
Spray booth with filters/blower
dust collection
Small Band saw for lighter work - 10"
Router/router table
Drill press
Lathe spindle chuck
Lathe separate flat jaw chuck or vacuum chuck for bowls
Lathe tools - need 1/4" , 3/8", 1/2" spindle and bowl gouges, 1 & 2" rough gouges, various thick heavy scrapers, carbide insert tools for roughing

Osu55 have BU jack and smoother from lee valley and they are great . Have set aside some of the cash for my lathe tools going to buy so that is covered and have a drill press and router table . Reason I was looking at shooting plane was I would probably never buy it . Normal budget doesn't let me

Router plane or a No 7 plane if you don't have one would be pretty high on my list. Even if you do a ton of work with machines like I do those things will really help out when you can't use a machine.

Sounds like you want the shooting plane. If you want it and can afford it, get it. If you get the PMV11 version you'll get $50 back on a gift card, enough to cover the $40 minimum order for free shipping next time.
