There's one on eBay right now. Is that the one you're wondering about? Looks like somebody crudely widened the mouth on it. The bid is only up to 10.50 as I write, which goes to show that the size is less important than the manufacturer, a comparable Stanley right now would be up in the hundreds by now. If you need a #2 as a shop tool, this would be the way to go. It's got the lateral adjuster and everything. Remember, though, that the #2 is hard to handle, there's very little room for your fingers between the tote and the frog of the plane.

What is the size of the plane (Length x Width)? If it is the same size as a stanley #2 it would have value to a plane collector? Do you have some photos?

Relative to quality, Fulton is a lower quality plane. Higher quality would be miller falls, record, union, keen kutter, etc.

Lower would be fulton, dunlap, stanley handyman, etc. I believe most of this stuff is from after WW2.

This is the one I got, I hope once I get it be able to tune it up properly and make it work for many years more to come. Is there a place where I can look and see how old this may be?

It's possible that Fulton has more than one line or may have quality "highs and lows" throughout their tenure. I've got two that work fairly well. I'd say mine are similar to some of the less prestigious modern Stanleys, but not on par with their more desirable older ones.

Yours looks older, and possibly heftier. Sargent made some very respectable planes. A #2 is a little rare. Was the sole repaired on it?

I've got these two:

Alonso: Yeah, but not so insane really. I'd like to have a #1 and #2, but hoping to simply luck into a good deal, in private sale. Good examples are certainly worth this much, and indeed eBay is the best indicator of just how much you can get for one of these. Those who have one to sell, of course, can sell it for less.. to me!
P.S. wow! I'd say you did all right, Alonso your eBay acquisition! Nice going! I missed that one entirely. Congrats!

"Was the sole repaired on it?"

I have no idea, other than having some issues with the knob and tote, but I really hope not, I can handle broken totes and knobs, but having a repair or cracked sole will be a real disappointment, also the seller is not calling out any damage to the body, so I really hope not.

I picked a up Fulton #2 like the one poopiekat linked in the auction above yesterday. I dropped by a local antique store and ran across it.

Has yours arrived Alonso?

Wayne,

Yes it arrived a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately it was not a No2 as stated by the seller, it was pretty much the same size of a Stanley No 4, so I just end up re-selling it.

I hope to have some luck this Sunday, I found an ad online where a guy outside of Los Angeles will be selling several hand tools and he claim to have a pair of Stanley's No2 that will be selling its just the drive what makes make think twice, (about 220miles round trip) ohhh well should be worth it right?

Bummer on your plane. Hopefully, you did not take a loss.

You will have to look for antique stores and flea markets along the way. Is the seller able to provide photos of the #2's?
