Does anyone have a way to get the current line of drum sanders, Jet, Grizzly,Delta, or any others to sand down to less than 1/16 inch? I want to build bent wood boxes and need thicknesses near .060" for the smaller units.
Thanks
How about sanding them first and then resawing them the thickness you want. of course on side would still require sanding unless you can use double stick tape to connect it to a thicker piece of wood.
I use a piece of MDF the width of my sander with a 1/16" cleat of MDF glued across the back edge. Double face tape will keep the thin piece from lifting off the sled and being 'eaten' by the sander but this happens rarely so I usually skip the tape. If you need to sand thinner than 1/16" just run the sled through and the cleat will get sanded down.
