I am starting to get used to the new forum. The addition of the bar at the top to take one to Projects/Reviews/Blogs was a great help.
I did sign up as a premium member and will see if it is worth it. I do think the cost is too high but time will tell. I really dislike that you made it a recurring cost.

I miss the Favorite Features as it was something that I did use. Please look into getting something like that added in.

I am getting used to the new forum and think it has done very well for being so young.

IMHO....There is one area which I think could be improved and that is the Reviews. It is not useful to have all the categories and actually is pretty useless to find things. With the relative few number of reviews, I think it would be mire useful to do it the same as Projects...ie..Showcase.

I am a bit confused but this is what I understand.????

Blogs are the old blogs and at some point will be closed to new entries but open to comments.

The Showcase includes Projects, Journal and Workshops. Any new Blog type entry should be posted in the Journal section.

I think it might be a good idea to show a link to Journal in the bar that currently is at the top of the page.

I wanted to find the post that gave the details on the internet way back site to try to find my favorites. I had favorited one of them to make a Christmas present and now can not find them. I think Scrooge must have hidden my favorites.

With the demise of Favorites, I still want to be able to collect projects or even blogs that I want to save for future reference. I really do not care to save a zillion bookmarks.

I suppose, I could print off to pdf and save in a folder on my computer. Maybe some smart, creative person has a more elegant solution. I would really like to hear any ideas. Favorites was an important part of the LJ experience and would like to find some replacement.

I found this in WikiHow and will try.

There are also some apps to do similar and I am looking at those such as Pocket and Instapaper.

Well..THAT was a really helpful post..did it take you long to write it up...
I think there is a lot of frustration and your comment did not help. There are some major changes that are not appreciated.

The loss of the favorites is A big one. I can not believe that the information is lost and CA not be retrieved in some form. Maybe not in the new forum but perhaps some type of a download for a member. One should be able to query an old data base. If the information from the old site was lost, someone screwed up. When you go to a new software or system, you always preserve old info.

The new projects is not getting many new projects and not nearly what the old one was. The new projects is just not as good.

Time will tell but I suspect that membership and posts are going down.

I think it is time for Cricket to let us know what they are working on as there have been many suggestions.

Sark, I am not a programmer but a end user. I was involved in several major installations of software to run steelmaking equipment. We spent a large amount of time working with the programmers trying it out and changing things. This included flying to Europe to try beta versions and discuss everything. In addition, we also brought some of our best operator to try it out and make suggestions. This was well before installation. This all made things work much smoother. I think that people would be more satisfied if some members had been able to preview the sofrware. Or, maybe, some did, and they missed things.

I do not care if it was mentioned early on or not. It would be nice to have and I think would not be hard to add. It is a pain to have to back out to do this. I would like to hear from Cricket about adding the feature.

This thread is past its prime. Sorry, but many have made suggestions but very few real responses. Maybe, someone could tell us what us really being worked on.

I will repeat a comment I made earlier. I understand that the favourites can not be made part of the new software. However, is it possible to create A list of ones favorites separate from the current LJ ???

As I explore the new site, I find things that I kind of like. The bookmarks are great but you can not bookmark anything but posts....not projects or reviews. This would be an improvement that would replace favorites.

This thread is A long read and being old, I can not always remember what is on the 71 pages. So, sorry if I brought up something that was previously mentioned. Perhaps, there is a better way of conveying issues. Maybe a list of suggestions and status of them. I would check such a list and not bring up a previously mentioned thing.
